LEVITRA (VARDENAFIL)

Vardenafil is a PDE 5 inhibitor that is used for the treatment of Erectile Dysfunction (ED) in men. It relaxes the smooth muscles present in the blood vessel walls and increases the blood flow to certain areas of the body, including the penis. A person suffering from ED faces difficulty in achieving and maintaining an erection during sexual intercourse. During sexual stimulation, a chemical known as Nitric Oxide is released into the penis. It is released from nerve endings and endothelial cells in the corpus cavernosum. Nitric Oxide is responsible for the production of Cyclic Guanosine Monophosphate (cGMP) that triggers muscle relaxation and controls the dilation and contraction of blood vessels. The enzyme PDE 5 destroys cGMP and does not let erection occur. Vardenafil blocks the action of PDE 5 and allows cGMP to be produced properly. This allows the blood flow properly to the penis. As more and more blood flows to the penis, a pressure is created. This results in an erection. This drug is sold under the name Levitra in doses such as 10 mg, 20 mg, 40 mg, and 60 mg. Generic versions of this drug include Vilitra, Zhewitra, Snovitra, etc. For this drug to work properly, the person should be sexually stimulated. This drug does not provide orgasm or increase your sexual performance. A single tablet is recommended to be taken in 24 hours. A starting dose of 20 mg is recommended for most patients. This drug is common in patients suffering from ED as a result of cardiovascular diseases. The effects of this medicine last for a period of 5 hours. For best results, consume the drug on an empty stomach and exactly 1 hour before sexual intercourse. Follow the prescribed dosage of the drug and read all the instructions mentioned on the leaflet.
